In Blubb – so normal, people transform into fantastical, weightless beings, floating like flowing blubbs through a space between water and air. Water is invisible but tangible – as a principle of weightlessness, detachment, and infinite malleability.
The paintings are painted freely and spontaneously. Unexpected, vibrant color combinations replace natural tones, creating a dreamlike world where the figures appear as mutable, amorphous blubbs. Their bodies evade fixed roles, norms, and expectations. Identity is experienced as fluid, layered, and free.
The acrylic paint mixed with paste gives the surfaces a tactile, almost living texture. The blubb forms enhance the sense of movement, transformation, and floating. From a feminist perspective, the works open spaces where social attributions are questioned and new modes of perception emerge.
Blubb – so normal invites viewers to enter a state of weightlessness, where people become fantastical, malleable beings and body, identity, and perception can be reimagined.
